Science - Pizza box

Aim: To make a solar powered oven.

Materials:
  1.  pizza box
  2. tinfoil
  3. tape
  4. black plastic
  5. newspaper
  6. glad rap
  7. straw
  8. scissors
  9. marshmallow/biscuit
Steps:
1:cut out the flap on the pizza box so that it is 5cm around the edge.
2:sellotape some tinfoil on the inside of the flap
3:sellotape some glad-wrap so that the hole you have cut on the pizza box lid is covered over with glad wrap
4:put a piece of black plastic on the bottom of inside of the pizza box on the bottom
5:make a paper square that fit inside the pizza box and lays around the edeg
6:put a marshmallow on the top of the chocolate biscuit, place it on the plastic plate and put it in the solar oven

7:put is in the sun to cook

Conclusion

Aim: To make a presentation that investigates different renewable energy's.

Section 1: Title Page

Make a title page that incorporates all renewable energy 's Hydro, Solar, Wind and Wave.

Section 2: Definitions

Define and provide a picture of each energy type.
  1. Hydro Energy
  2. Solar Energy
  3. Wind Energy
  4. Wave Energy
Section 3; Investigate each of the 4 Energy types.
( Hydro ,Solar ,Wind ,Wave )

  1. Type:
  2. Is it used in NZ ?
  3. Other Countries that use it?
  4. How is it used to generate electricity?
  5. Draw and label a diagram of the main parts of the electricity generator? This can be done on paper and uploaded or on a drawing program on your device. I do not want any Internet images or pictures. They must be hand drawn using a ruler and labelled.

Section 4: Renewable Energy in the future.

List 10 ways that renewable energy will be used in the future to replace our current activities.

Science - climate change

Aim to learn about the different emission of  climate change

Cows>methane is a greenhouse gas that is 25 time more powerful then carbon dioxide.

Food>trains, planes, trucks add carbon dioxide to the atmosphere

Landfill>are landfill is growing and using more of healthy land.

Transport> most car need gas or diesel to work

electricity>electricity is a from of of energy used to power almost everything in our homes

factories> making clothes cars electronic and processed food create a lot of pollution

Science - Decompistion

Aim: To learn about the rate that different materials decompose.

Science - wind power

  1. Anemometer:
  2. Beaufort wind scale:

Anemometer

MATERIALS

  1.   Sellotape
  2. pencil
  3. pin
  4. 2x sticks
  5.   x4 cups
  6. sticky note

STEPS

  1.  Tape the cup on the stick
  2.   make a cross with it
  3.  pin throw the cross to the rubber in the pencil

Group Investigation.

Groups size: 5
Roles:

  • Timekeeper ( watch)
  • Counter
  • Recorder ( Chromebook or refill )
  • Anemometer Manager ( Anemometer)
  • Wind Manager

Instructions:
  • Go to the measuring place and set up your wind gauge.
  • Make sure everyone in your group is ready to start their roles.
  • Record how many times it spins and record it in the table below.
  • Count the number of spins in 15 seconds.
  • Record it on your chart.

  • TAKE A PICTURE OF THE GRAPH AND UPLOAD IT TO YOUR BLOG
1 WHICH IS THE WINDIEST AREA AND WHY?
2 WHICH IS THE CALMEST AREA AND WHY?
3 WHERE IS THE BEST PLACE ON LAND TO BUILD A WINDMILL?\
1. The field is the windiest as the cars come past and make a lot of wind plus its a big space.
2. The Tennis court is the calmest as its all fenced off and there would be very little wind.
3. The best place to build a windmill would have to be the old J block site because people won't be over there most of the time and it's also out of the way of the children
